As a visual artist, M.E. Baird’s three-decade-long practice has been centred on duality, absence, and memory. There is also a strong interactive relationship between his visual art and songwriting: each informs and inspires the other, allowing ideas to be expressed in the way that best communicates the intended message. For M.E. Baird, it's always been hard to draw a line between the two. His work, whether musical or visual, is definitely not for those seeking a quick fix, a one-liner, or a predictable experience. He has won several art prizes and awards and exhibited widely. He was recently awarded 1st place in the Maritime Art Prize, Australia (2023), for his piece, The Loner from his Ghost Boat series.
